Following a plan is the single most important factor in performance improvement. A fact of life is that it isn’t always fun setting challenging goals then following a plan to achieve them. Usually because it targets the weaknesses; it is only natural that those are the least favoured areas to develop in training.

What occurs in competition is linked to situations in the golfer’s life. Challenges occurring in general life impact on golf performance...they are interlinked. Coaching conversations with individual athletes explore this link and provide a whole-of-life approach to improving their golf game.
Training is the best indicator of potential success. Practicing correctly requires knowledge and discipline. The greatest assistance that can be offered is in enabling a player to learn to train properly. The belief about the importance of training properly underpins our individual planning and is central to our philosophy of improvement.
Working towards agreed goals is critical to success. From the outset we determine individual and organisational goals; we set plans to achieve those goals; monitor progress and adjust the plans to keep on track.
This approach has a track record of success. Australian golf programmes have long been the envy of other countries around the world. With coaches and support services working together with the golfers, winning teams and golfers have occurred out of proportion with the golf population of Australia.
The golf industry is full of passionate people who truly wish for the best from talented golfers. Are you someone who does everything they feel they should and still don’t achieve the results you expect? It could be that something other than your method of training is affecting your performance.
One of the beliefs we hold regarding coaching is that what happens in life and on the golf course are interlinked. For this reason, some of the performance breakthroughs that athletes have occur not just on the golf course, but also into their ‘other’ lives.
Clients who participate in this form of coaching can expect to gain clarity around the reasons for their current performance blocks. They can also expect to become clear on what is required to move forward and to establish specific tasks to ensure progress is made.
Typically this involves three, six or twelve conversations, each lasting between 45 mins to 1hr. The client comes to each session with an outcome in mind which is then explored. Each session builds on the previous ones with tasking and follow-up which ensures accountability on the client.
This form of coaching involves conversations which look into the heart of performance issues and then developing strategies to move forward. This coaching is empowering for the athlete and can occur over the phone, so it is a convenient way of addressing performance blocks without the need for a golf course or face-to-face contact.
Some of the ways this type of coaching benefits you are
- Goal setting & achievement
- Accountability coaching
- Building self-confidence
- Improving communication skills
- Overcoming procrastination
- Exploring and overcoming limiting beliefs
- Concentration and confidence
- Positive self-talk
- Training and recovery
- Determining values and purpose
- Physical and mental skills training

If becoming a better golfer is important to you, then you will realise that the most reliable way to improve your golf is through a combination of coaching and practice. One of the reasons for frustration on the course is that almost all golfers are extremely poor at knowing how to correct their own swing errors, or even what those errors are!
The good news is that a reputable coach is able to do that for you. Not surprisingly, some of the suggestions made by a coach can be different to what you would advise yourself and this advice leads to improvement.
If you’re not satisfied with your progress and are willing to follow expert advice you will improve. This has been proven countless times with golfers who have experienced coaching with Peter.
A coaching session might involve understanding your swing via the use of video analysis and other technologies. Keeping statistics on your rounds is also important so you can be accurately advised on how to target your practice and coaching sessions. You will also learn how to self-correct by understanding the patterns of your shots.
